Fears & Phobias usually show up in 3 ways…
1) Witnessed recurrent events or associations – like seeing mom recurrently freak out when she sees a bug/lizard. This creates an association for very a young child who sees and feels mom’s fear and makes an assumption that they too are not safe when they see a bug/lizard.
2) One single event that does NOT resemble the fear but resembles the emotion – A common example of this would be “feeling out of control” when flying on a plane. The main culprit is not the plane but is any moment or experience that would make you feel out of control. For example a child that felt out of control when dad would drive the car when they were little, dad especially would scream or yell in the car and drive crazy that made the child feel unsafe and scared and out of control when in a moving vehicle (like a car or plane).
3) A single original even that strongly resembles the object – an example of this would be a child that was chased by a dog who is fearful of all animals or a man that is fearful of needles but it started back when they fell into a cactus patch.
The Hidden Memory Connection
Now what is most fascinating is that unless it was caused by #1 above – otherwise most cases (roughly 90% of the ones I have worked with) DO NOT know the original culprit or the core memory, it is hidden.

Why Traditional “Just Face Your Fear” Approaches Often Fails
This is also the reasons why when people tell you to “just get over it” or use exposure therapy, they’re asking your conscious mind to figure it out and even force yourself but I don’t beleive forcing yourself to feel safe without knowing where it came from ever relly works. You have to go back and repattenr or re-program the original cause.

How Hypnotherapy For Phobias & Fears works
Hypnotherapy works because it speaks the same language as your subconscious mind – the language of imagery, emotion, and memory. Instead of fighting against your protection system, we work with it.
Here’s what happens in our sessions:
Step 1 : Finding memory or culprit while in a relaxed and focused state (hypnosis)

The first thing we do is find the emotion, the feeling or the beleifs that comes up when the trigger happends (examples of this would be feeling unsafe, scared, trapped, out of control and etc.).
The sensation of how you feel it within your body are also important – tightness, pressure in chest or knot in your stomach.
These are all used to communicate or start to have a better conversation with the subconscious.
These emotions, beleifs and body sensations become like a doorway to the subconscious and a memory (even when unknown).
We use these things to find where they came from while you are in a calm meditative or relaxed state. While in a hypnotic state you can be a bit more dissociated so it is not intense. Most people are concerned of being uncomfortable but actually they are surprised that we can pace you so it’s more gentle unlike flooding or using a techniques such as overexposure which I find can be more harmful then help.
Step 2 : Planting new seeds to grow

Now this all may not happen in one day but when we identify the main trigger we plant new seeds
When you are in an altered state of trance (aka Hypnosis) your mind is more flexible and allows for neuro-plasticity. We can easily replace old patterns with suggestions and reprogramming techniques. The way things are worded and the imagery that is created allows us to change the way you see a particular situation. It is like going back in time and re-doing things a bit different or even with more information for you to not have the same results.
Step 3 : Testing & Rooting in change

This is the fun part, at least for me because i love seeing people light up when they realize things have changed and how simple it may have been to occur.
I want you to go “test” things out however you can and even if a little to really root down the change. It is almost like showing your mind the proof and gaining your confidence to do these things that your fear or phobia held you back from.
We also test things in the office through imagery work, if the body feels different with this test we know we are successful. We want to assure the re-patterning is rooting deep in like roots in the ground growing a new way of being.

How many sessions will I need?
For vary specific phobias and fears like the ones noted – this means it is related to one things (i.e. flying, animals, highways and etc) I am able to help with just 3 sessions.
If something is more generalizedand affecting other areas of your life beyond that one thing it could take longer.
But for one specific thing 3 or less it my average.
